I wanted to write a bit more about this topic as I believe many people are not able to properly identify and understand what exactly clutter is. They may not be aware that clutter is part of them and the huge impact it has on their every day life. Clutter comes in all forms, sizes and levels and everybody experiences their own types of clutter. It is quite frightening how quickly we are able to accumulate the amount of stuff that forms our clutter.
I have been reading a book by Karen Kingston - Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui and I totally agree how she describes what clutter is, so I'm going to highlight these for you here:
1. Things that we don't use and love
There's probably many things in your house that have simply outlived their purpose, they are either broken, don't fit anymore, not needed anymore, unloved or we keep them 'just in case' etc.
2. Things that are not in order or organised
When we have accumulated too much and have not been on top of tidying, the stuff piles up in different places all over our home. This is simply because the items we own don't have their permanent home and this causes clutter build up.
3. Too many things in a small area
Sometimes the issue could be because we just simply don't have enough space for the things we own or the issue is that we have overfilled our space with way more stuff we need. We can't see what's important, our space lacks clarity.
4. Anything that's not finished
Anything that's not been finished to the end, projects, refurbishments, broken tap etc, all this forms our mental clutter.

Take a good look around your space and try to identify your types of clutter and how it affects you every day. Think about the items you own and whether they actually bring you any joy, whether they support your needs and desires. If not, it's OK to let them go.
Take a few moments and imagine your ideal home - is it still filled with the same amount of stuff or not? If the answer is no, then you probably know the answer to that :-)
Have a lovely day.
Love and joy,
Gabby xx
